Name
: Aurélien GATHELOT
Birthdate : 18 / 07 / 1978
Instrument : Rhythm Guitar
Born in Saint-Ouen near Paris, Aurélien got the taste
for rock from his father. As many young people, while searching a
bit at home, he finds records of Dire Straits and Genesis that will
be his first steps outside the path of french songs and Top 50. With
Toto, these three bands are his first rock influences and the first
marking guitar sounds.
During teenage years, Aurélien discovers hard-rock with Guns
N' Roses and then Metallica, Iron Maiden and Megadeth, the main actors
at that time. But our friend doesn't listen only to hard-rock and
heavy-metal and his musical culture goes to other levels with Noir
Désir or The Black Crowes. The actual revelation comes with
old bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Yes. At that time he
buys his first guitar and gives his first shots with Metallica background
music.
High school being over, here comes the engineer school and its first
bands. The very first one will be Amiante, who covers rock bands like
Noir Désir, Muse, Radiohead... The line-up will remain stable
for five years, allowing Aurélien to perform his first shows.
Meanwhile, Aurélien's musical influences continue to diversify
with bands such as Dream Theater, Lofofora or Incubus. In parallel,
with other friends, he sets up Lusabele and Dawn, two other bands
almost similar that cover more aggresive songs influenced by Pantera,
Slayer or Covenant.
Once in the world of work as an ingeneer, Aurélien meets NiCo
at the office and they begin to play together quickly with the band
Black Stripe, a parisian hard-rock band. During one year they're going
to work the songs of the compositor, Ben, attend a few shows and finally
record a demo that will never see daylight. After this period, Nico,
G and Aurélien feel more and more the need to perform real
Metal and in the end they decide to quit the band to create Eleventh
Plague.
